La nueva embarcación de la Policía Local rescata a un hombre tras caer cinco metros al mar desde el Penyal d’Ifac
Un varón de 60 años ha sido rescatado tras caer al mar cuando intentaba descender a una cala desde una zona rocosa del Penyal d’Ifac. En la operación ha participado la nueva Unidad de Vigilancia e Intervención Marítima de la Policía Local de Calp (UVIM), que, tras recibir un aviso del 112, se ha dirigido a las inmediaciones del Penyal y ha logrado localizar al herido.
Una vez fondeada la embarcación, uno de los agentes se ha lanzado al agua para socorrerlo, mientras el otro ha permanecido a bordo dirigiendo la maniobra. El afectado, que ha sufrido golpes en la espalda, el pecho y la cabeza, ha manifestado haber sufrido una caída de aproximadamente cinco metros de altura al intentar descender a una cala.
En la evacuación del herido han intervenido, además de diversos agentes de la Policía Local de Calp, bomberos, servicios sanitarios, un socorrista de la empresa EULEN e incluso un aficionado al paddle surf que se encontraba en la zona.

The “festeros” take over the Town Hall on Fadrí Day
As is traditional on Fadrí Day, Calpe has a new mayor. This morning, 18-year-old festival-goer Salva Femenía became the town's first councillor after Mayoress Ana Sala handed him the baton in front of the members of the festival committee, who cheered their new municipal representative.
Although he will only be in office for 24 hours, he has prepared a programme of measures that will be in force throughout the day. After thanking the “festeros” for their trust, the new mayor said that his goal is to work for a more ‘festive’ Calpe.
The young mayor addressed those present - members of the committee and citizens - from the balcony of the Town Hall and presented several of his proposals, such as extending the hours of the festival shows, banning controls and making it compulsory to have fun during the festival days.
This event marks Fadrí Day, a day when young “festeros” take charge of the municipality. In his speech from the plenary hall, Salva Femenía also called for more days of festivities.
Calpe holds its first port round table to address the sector's needs
The Director General of Coasts, Ports and Airports, Marc García, chaired the first meeting of the Calpe port round table, which was attended by Calpe Town Council, the Fishermen's Association, the Royal Yacht Club of Calpe, Varadero Marine Spirit and Avramar, the company that manages the fish farm in Calpe.
This is the first meeting between the Director General and the various port stakeholders to hear their concerns and worries. The mayoress of Calpe, Ana Sala, criticised the slow response to the requests submitted by the Town Council to Ports and the fact that the Regional Government returns little of the fees that Calpe pays them every year to the local port. She also took the opportunity to reiterate the Town Council's opposition to the fish farm installed off the coast of the municipality.
Similarly, the head of the fishermen's association, Paco Catalá, and the association's secretary, Santos Pastor, called for greater speed in the processing of files and more support from the regional government in improving the port's infrastructure, ‘one of the most visited in the Valencian Community in both winter and summer’. They cited as an example the importance of improving the fish market, a building that is over 30 years old. The fishermen's association also warned of the lack of space in the port due to the presence of boats from other ports and the increase in tourist activity.
Representatives of Varadero Marine Spirit and Avramar also highlighted the delay in resolving applications and raised the possibility of establishing access control on Avenida del Puerto - from the Royal Yacht Club to Cala del Racó - to avoid traffic jams on this road.
The president of the Royal Yacht Club, Juan Belliure, explained to the director general the sporting successes achieved by the club and the educational work carried out in schools to promote water sports, and informed him of the 50th anniversary of these facilities next year.
The director general invited all those present to submit detailed proposals in relation to the demands made.
He also reported that the Ports budget has increased by 15% this year, in addition to the intention to reinforce the service with 11 people, which he hopes will enable a more responsive service to be provided in relation to requests and enquiries concerning the 35 ports managed in the Valencian Community. He added that the Calpe fish market is the only one in the region built and paid for by the fishermen of Calpe themselves, ‘something that must be taken into account’, and assured that it ‘will be a priority’ for the Regional Government.
In addition to Mayor Ana Sala, the meeting was attended by the Councillor for the Sea and Land, Mariola Mulet, and the Councillor for Territory, Juan Manuel del Pino.

Els festers prenen l'Ajuntament en el Dia del Fadrí
Com a marca la tradició en el Dia del Fadrí Calp compta amb nou alcalde. Aquest matí el fester de 18 anys Salva Femenía s'ha convertit en el primer edil del municipi després de cedir-li la vara de comandament l'alcaldessa Ana Sala davant la presència dels membres de la comissió de festes que han aclamat al seu nou representant municipal..
I encara que serà per 24 hores ha preparat un programa de mesures que estaran en vigor al llarg de la jornada, després d'agrair la confiança dels seus festers el nou alcalde ha indicat que el seu objectiu és treballar per un Calp més “fester”.
El jove alcalde s'ha dirigit des del balcó de l'Ajuntament a les persones assistents – membres de la comissió i ciutadania – i ha presentat diverses de les seues propostes com l'ampliació dels horaris dels espectacles de festes, la prohibició de controls o l'obligació de passar-s'ho bé durant els dies de festa.
Aquest acte caracteritza el Dia del Fadrí, jornada en la qual els joves festers prenen el comandament del municipi. En el seu discurs des del saló de plens Salva Femenía també ha demanat més dies de festa.

Como marca la tradición en el Día del Fadrí Calp cuenta con nuevo alcalde. Esta mañana el festero de 18 años Salva Femenía se ha convertido en el primer edil del municipio tras cederle la vara de mando la alcaldesa Ana Sala ante la presencia de los miembros de la comisión de fiestas que han aclamado a su nuevo representante municipal..
Y aunque será por 24 horas ha preparado un programa de medidas que estarán en vigor a lo largo de la jornada, tras agradecer la confianza de sus festeros el nuevo alcalde ha indicado que su objetivo es trabajar por un Calp más “fiestero”.
El joven alcalde se ha dirigido desde el balcón del Ayuntamiento a las personas asistentes – miembros de la comisión y ciudadanía – y ha presentado varias de sus propuestas como la ampliación de los horarios de los espectáculos de fiestas, la prohibición de controles o la obligación de pasárselo bien durante los días de fiesta.
Este acto caracteriza el Día del Fadrí, jornada en la que los jóvenes festeros toman el mando del municipio. En su discurso desde el salón de plenos Salva Femenía también ha pedido más días de fiesta.
Calp celebra la seua primera mesa portuària per a abordar necessitats del sector
El director general de Costes, Ports i Aeroports, Marc García, ha presidit la primera reunió de la mesa portuària de Calp i en la qual han participat l'Ajuntament de Calp, la Confraria de Pescadors, el Reial Club Nàutic de Calp així com el Varadero Marine Spirit i Avramar, l'empresa que gestiona la piscifactoria a Calp.
Es tracta d'una primera presa de contacte del director general amb els diferents actors portuaris per a conéixer les seues preocupacions i inquietuds. L'alcaldessa de Calp, Ana Sala, li ha recriminat lentitud en la resposta a les sol·licituds presentades per l'Ajuntament a Ports i que la Generalitat revertisca en el port de la localitat poc del cànon que Calp els abona tots els anys. I ha aprofitat també per a reiterar l'oposició de l'Ajuntament de Calp a la piscifactoria instal·lada enfront de les costes calpines.
De la mateixa manera, el patró major de la confraria de Pescadors, Paco Catalá, i el secretari de la confraria, Santos Pastor, han reclamat major celeritat en la tramitació dels expedients i més suport per part de la Generalitat en la millora de les infraestructures del port, “un dels més visitats de la Comunitat valenciana tant a l'hivern com a l'estiu”. I van posar com a exemple la importància de millorar la Llotja pesquera, un edifici de més de 30 anys. La confraria ha alertat, a més, de la falta d'espai en el port davant la presència de vaixells d'altres ports i l'augment de l'activitat turística.
Representants del Varadero Marine Spirit i Avramar han incidit igualment en la tardança en la resolució de les sol·licituds i han plantejat la possibilitat d'establir un control d'accés en l'avinguda del Port – des del Reial Club Nàutic fins a la Cala del Racó -per a evitar embussos en la via.
El president del Reial Club Nàutic Juan Belliure, per la seua part, ha explicat al director general els èxits esportius aconseguits pel club i la tasca educativa que es desenvolupa en els col·legis per a donar a conéixer els esports nàutics i li ha informat de la celebració del 50 aniversari d'estes instal·lacions l'any vinent.
El director general ha convidat tots els assistents a presentar propostes detallades en relació a les demandes formulades. I ha explicat que el pressupost de Ports ha augmentat un 15% enguany, a més de la intenció de reforçar el servici amb 11 persones amb la qual cosa espera que es puga oferir una atenció més àgil a les peticions i sol·licituds relacionades amb els 35 ports de la Comunitat Valenciana. A més, ha afegit que la llotja de Calp és l'única de la Comunitat construïda i pagada pels propis pescadors calpins, “cosa que s'ha de tindre en compte” i ha assegurat que “serà una prioritat” per a la Generalitat.
En la reunió han sigut presents, a més de l'alcaldessa Ana Sala, la regidora de la Mar i de la Terra, Mariola Mulet i el regidor de Territori, Juan Manuel del Pino.

El director general de Costas, Puertos y Aeropuertos, Marc García, ha presidido la primera reunión de la mesa portuaria de Calp y en la que han participado el Ayuntamiento de Calp, la Cofradía de Pescadores, el Real Club Náutico de Calp así como el Varadero Marine Spirit y Avramar, la empresa que gestiona la piscifactoría en Calp.
Se trata de una primera toma de contacto del director general con los diferentes actores portuarios para conocer sus preocupaciones e inquietudes. La alcaldesa de Calp, Ana Sala, le ha recriminado lentitud en la respuesta a las solicitudes presentadas por el Ayuntamiento a Puertos y que la Generalitat revierta en el puerto de la localidad poco del canon que Calp les abona todos los años. Y ha aprovechado también para reiterar la oposición del Ayuntamiento de Calp a la piscifactoría instalada frente a las costas calpinas.
Del mismo modo, el patrón mayor de la cofradía de Pescadores, Paco Catalá, y el secretario de la cofradía, Santos Pastor, han reclamado mayor celeridad en la tramitación de los expedientes y más apoyo por parte de la Generalitat en la mejora de las infraestructuras del puerto, “uno de los más visitados de la Comunitat valenciana tanto en invierno como en verano”. Y pusieron como ejemplo la importancia de mejorar la Lonja pesquera, un edificio de más de 30 años. La cofradía ha alertado, además, de la falta de espacio en el puerto ante la presencia de barcos de otros puertos y el aumento de la actividad turística.
Representantes del Varadero Marine Spirit y Avramar han incidido igualmente en la tardanza en la resolución de las solicitudes y han planteado la posibilidad de establecer un control de acceso en la avenida del Puerto – desde el Real Club Náutico hasta la Cala del Racó - para evitar atascos en esta vía.
El presidente del Real Club Náutico Juan Belliure, por su parte, ha explicado al director general los éxitos deportivos logrados por el club y la labor educativa que se desarrolla en los colegios para dar a conocer los deportes náuticos y le ha informado de la celebración del 50 aniversario de estas instalaciones el próximo año.
El director general ha invitado a todos los asistentes a presentar propuestas detalladas en relación a las demandas formuladas. Y ha informado de que el presupuesto de Puertos ha aumentado un 15% este año, además de la intención de reforzar el servicio con 11 personas por lo que espera que, de este modo, se pueda ofrecer una atención más ágil a las peticiones y solicitudes relacionadas con los 35 puertos que gestiona en la Comunitat Valenciana. Además, ha añadido que la lonja de Calp es la única de la Comunitat construida y pagada por los propios pescadores calpinos, “algo que se ha de tener en cuenta” y ha asegurado que “será una prioridad” para la Generalitat.
En la reunión han estado presentes, además de la alcaldesa Ana Sala, la concejala del Mar i de la Terra, Mariola Mulet y el concejal de Territorio, Juan Manuel del Pino.

Calpe successfully hosts the first ‘Calpe Drumt’, an international drumming event on Belgium Day
On Monday, Calpe hosted the first ‘Calpe Drumt’ with great success, an innovative musical event that brought the spirit of Belgium's famous ‘Kortrijk Drumt’ to the Costa Blanca. The initiative, which coincided with Belgium Day celebrations, brought together dozens of drummers in a unique show that fused Belgian and Valencian culture.
‘Calpe Drumt’ originated in Kortrijk, Belgium, where drummer Gino Kesteloot has been organising ‘Kortrijk Drumt’ for more than 10 years, a mass gathering of rock drummers who play in unison. This Belgian musical tradition found the perfect stage for its international expansion in Calpe.
The celebration enjoyed the special collaboration of the local Belgian community, the third largest among Calpe's foreign residents, who actively participated in organising the catering. As an ambassador of Valencian culture, a giant paella was served for 400 people, symbolising the gastronomic fusion of both cultures, along with authentic Belgian beer to accompany the day of conviviality prior to the concert.
The event was attended by Trui Steenhoudt, Councillor for Mobility for the city of Kortrijk and a percussion enthusiast, who actively participated in the choral drumming session. The Mayor of Calpe, Ana Sala, performed the ‘honorary kick-off’ of the event, playing the first rhythmic bars on the main drum under the direction of Gino Kesteloot.
One of the big surprises of the night was the participation of renowned drummer Neil Cooper, member of the famous band Therapy, who accompanied the local and international participants on stage. All the participating artists, including Cooper, generously waived their fees to make this charity event possible.
The evening also featured a pro bono collaboration from the resident DJs of Calpe Municipal Radio, who left the studio to entertain guests during the pre-concert gathering and between musical performances with the best rock music of recent decades.
The event began with the reading of a manifesto by representatives of the Belgian community on the occasion of Belgium Day, followed by the performance of the Belgian national anthem.
The concert was structured in two distinct parts. The first included percussion pieces by rock legends such as Bon Jovi, Rammstein and AC/DC, while the second part featured popular Belgian songs, notably ‘Mooi, 't Leven is Mooi’ (‘Life is Beautiful’), which was particularly well received by the Belgian community in attendance.
The event brought together approximately 75 drummers from different countries. Most were from Belgium, but it also featured Brazilian drummers led by Alexei Leão and the participation of 10 local drummers from Marina Alta, demonstrating the international and inclusive nature of the event.
The concert ended at 11 p.m. and the clean-up was completed in record time, respecting the neighbours' rest and demonstrating the organisers' commitment to the environment. Both at the beginning and at the end of the event, it was announced that this will most likely not be the last edition of the event in Calpe. The Town Council is already working on ‘Calpe Drumt II’, recognising that due to the heat and the high season dates, many people were unable to participate for work or weather reasons.
The Councillor for Residents, Marco Bittner, described the event as ‘a moment of encounter between Belgian and Valencian culture, exemplifying the welcoming and tolerant spirit of the people of Calpe’. The initiative brought together foreigners and locals in a concert never seen in the area, consolidating the celebration of Belgium Day in style.
Nacha Pop, El Drogas and Figa Flawas, headliners of the Calpe Pop Festival 2025
Calpe will celebrate a new edition of the Calpe Pop Festival on August 15 and 16, which this time will feature stellar performances by Nacha Pop and El Drogas, who marked an entire era of Spanish pop and rock with their songs, as well as the trendy Catalan duo that has revolutionized urban music, Figa Flawas.
The event, which has been held in Calpe since 2021 coinciding with the Ascension bridge during the peak tourist season, combines performances for an adult audience with others aimed at new generations. Thus, alongside Nacha Pop and El Drogas, the participation of young performers who are making a name for themselves in the music scene is also planned, such as Figa Flawas, Gava i Nico and DJ Capde, in addition to the performance by local DJ Abraham Pla.
The festival will kick off on August 15 with Figa Flawas, Gava i Nico, and DJ Capde. It will continue the next day with Nacha Pop and El Drogas, who was the singer, bassist, and leader of the urban rock band Barricada. The event will close with DJ Abraham Pla.
The Calpe Pop festival will take place in the Parc de la Creativitat. The entrance is free, and the doors are scheduled to open at 10 PM on August 15 and at 8:30 PM on August 16.
Calpe closes the municipal swimming pool in August to carry out improvement works on the facilities
From 2 August, the municipal swimming pool will be temporarily closed to carry out various maintenance and improvement works on the facilities. The swimming pool will reopen on 1 September with classes and free swimming, although on 28 and 29 August the facility will be open exclusively for registration for the new season's courses.
During the month of August, various works are planned for these sports facilities, including repairs to the dehumidifier and four diesel boilers to ensure service in the event of a biomass boiler failure. In addition, electrical panels will be replaced, and distribution pumps will be repaired. The automation of all the machinery using PLC systems is also planned, with an application that will allow the status of the swimming pool to be monitored at all times.
All this work represents an investment of €78,484.77 and was announced in March when the swimming pool was refurbished. The final execution has been delayed until now as it required the closure of the swimming pool and August is the month that least affects normal activity.
In addition, a 57.2 kW photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof, with an inverter that will allow it to be self-sufficient in the event of a power failure. This represents an investment of €22,100 and has been awarded to the company Energías Renovables HG, from Ondara. This month, turnstiles will also be installed for automatic access control, with an investment of €16,100.
Finally, under the maintenance contract signed a couple of months ago, the mouldy roof panels will be replaced and the entire deteriorated agglomerate side strip will be repaired. The entrance floor will also be replaced with epoxy and the iron door to the car park will be replaced. All this will cost €18,500.
In September, once the swimming pool has reopened, the entire exterior façade will be cleaned and the windows washed. All this work will ensure that the swimming pool is completely renovated and ready for its reopening on 1 September.
Everything is ready in Calpe to celebrate the patron saint festivities in honour of the Virgen de las Nieves
Calpe will celebrate its patron saint festivities in honour of its patron saint, the Virgen de las Nieves, starting this Thursday, 31 July. One of the most traditional and heartfelt celebrations in the town begins, organised by the 2025 festivities committee and Calpe Town Council.
The day will begin with the Entrada de la Murta, an event that kicks off the festivities and in which the members of the committee parade through the streets of the old town dressed in traditional costumes to the Miguel Roselló square. There, the queens of the festivities will perform the ‘Crida a la festa’ from the balcony of the Town Hall. In the evening, the Plaza Mayor will host a performance by DJ Fely & Macro Discomóvil SOS.
On Friday 1 August, the ‘Día del Fadrí’ will be celebrated, when young revellers will take over the Town Hall and the ‘vara de mando’ (symbol of authority) will be handed over to the 2007 revellers, who will rule the streets of the municipality for a day. At 6pm there will be Aqua-jocs followed by a foam party for the little ones in the Parc de la Creativitat. Welectric, Dj & Orquesta Óxido will perform that night in the Plaza Mayor.
On Saturday 2 August, ‘El Día de las Comisiones’ (Commissions Day) will be celebrated with cucañas, traditional games and a candy parade in the morning in Calle Llibertat. In the afternoon, there will be a children's mini-disco on Calle Cervantes and, from 11.30 pm, ‘DJ Night’ with performances by Sergio Salinas, Sansixto, Brian Cross and Omy Cid in the Plaza Mayor.
On Sunday 3 August, ‘Children's Day’ will be celebrated with various activities for the little ones. There will be a children's wake-up call, water games and a foam party in the Parc de la Creativitat, and in the afternoon, the traditional musicals will be held in the Plaza Mayor, with a children's Disney show featuring Gisela at 7.30 pm and the Hollywood musical at 11 pm in the Plaza Mayor. This will be followed by a huge mobile disco with Marsal Ventura ‘Technoflamenco’ in the Plaza Mayor.
On Monday 4 August, the eve of the main festival, at 8 pm there will be a parade with the queens and members of the 2025 Festival Committee, which will end at the parish church where the Offering of Flowers to the Virgin of the Snows will take place. In the evening, there will be a large night-time mascletá (fireworks display) by Pirotecnia Caballer, followed by a performance by the Orquesta Alaska on Tour in the Plaza Mayor.
On Tuesday 5th, the feast day of the Virgin of the Snows, patron saint of Calpe, the festivities will begin with an aerial bombardment by the Caballer pyrotechnics company. At 11 am, there will be a parade by the Festival Committee and a mass in honour of the Virgen de las Nieves. At 1 pm, there will be a mascletá in the Plaza Mayor. At 7.30 pm there will be another parade prior to the solemn procession in honour of the patron saint of Calpe, which will pass through the streets of the old town and will be followed by the famous Castell a la Mar organised by the Festivities Department, an ‘aero-aquatic’ fireworks display launched from the breakwater at Arenal-Bol beach. At 12:30 a.m., the Plaza Mayor will once again be the meeting point with a performance by the ‘Matrix’ orchestra.
On Wednesday 6 August, Saint Salvador's Day, the traditional Valencian pilota match will be held in Calle García Ortiz. In the afternoon, the festival-goers and authorities will move to the chapel of San Salvador, where the traditional mass in honour of Saint Salvador will be held. This will be followed by a wine reception in Calle La Ermita.
From 6 to 13 August, the traditional ‘Bous al carrer’ (bulls in the street) will be held in Calle Conde de Altea with afternoon and evening sessions organised by the Associació Festera Bous al Carrer. And on Sunday 10 August, there will be a grand parade with floats from Calle Benissa to Plaza Colón.
The festivities will come to an end with free concerts on 15 and 16 August with the CalpePop Festival. On 15 August with Figa Flawas, Gava i Nico and DJ Capde. And on 16 August with Nacha Pop, El Drogas and DJ Abraham Pla from Calpe. These concerts will be held in the Parc de la Creativitat and are free of charge.
The plenary session approves a budget amendment of €1,335,911.03
In view of the existence of expenditure that cannot be postponed until the following financial year, for which there is no provision in the current budget and given that sufficient funding is available, a credit modification for extraordinary credit amounting to €1,335,911.03 was brought before the plenary session today and approved with the votes of the government and the abstention of the opposition.
The aim is to cancel certain budget items that are not committed and are not planned to be executed this year in order to meet other expenses that need to be executed this financial year. In addition, €755,684.89 is allocated from the 2024 cash surplus. This will be used to remove items such as sanitation and rainwater infrastructure worth €569,226.14, popular festivals worth €1,000, and building repair and maintenance worth €10,000.
The items to be executed this year relate to the payment of interest on arrears arising from court rulings amounting to €380,674.92 (the company SIREM, formerly COLSUR, sued the City Council at the same time as the City Council sued the company, and the appeal has not yet been resolved).
Other items to be implemented this year include investment in urban land in the Maryvilla area through expropriation at fair market value amounting to €854,423.04, the installation of pipes and pre-installation of the public Wi-Fi network in the old town for €49,813.07, the acquisition of furniture and equipment for the Primary Care Social Centre for €40,000, the Sports and Culture Gala Awards for €10,000 and the Moors and Christians Poster Competition for €1,000.
At this point, the spokesperson for Defendamos Calpe, Paco Quiles, questioned the lack of information, stating that "we need to assess who defended not paying these bills and why. We have to pay almost €400,000 in late payment interest, but why wasn't an attempt made to pay earlier? As for the plot of land, in 1998 it was decided that it would be privately owned and we are going to pay €160 per square metre without having a plan for what is going to be done there. It could have been exchanged for land in the lower part of Maryvilla to create much-needed parking spaces. In the end, it is the citizens who pay the consequences".
The spokesperson for the Popular Party, Miguel Crespo, said that "we are holding a plenary session to pay almost €400,000 in late payment interest and €800,000 for private land, two actions that will not result in improvements for citizens. The late payment interest in the sadly notorious rubbish case could reach €6 million. On the other hand, in the requested expropriation of the plots at the last plenary session, they announced the declassification of the plots in the sectors, and it makes no sense if we compare both operations, what is going to be paid for some plots and what they plan to pay for the others. When we demand legal certainty, we are talking about costs that can be borne by the City Council. Furthermore, a requested expropriation is not the same as a forced expropriation."
For his part, Socialist spokesperson Guillermo Sendra explained that "on the Colsur issue, everyone knows that there is a criminal proceeding that began in 2010. This government team was not in office at that time, and since then there has been a series of lawsuits. The logical thing is to pay what the judges say. There is a lawsuit filed by Colsur against the City Council and by the City Council against Colsur. A judge ruled that criminal preliminary proceedings applied, and now we have to pay while we wait for the City Council's lawsuit against Colsur to be resolved."
The spokesperson for Compromís, Ximo Perles, pointed out that "there is the concept of credit compensation. If 12 million is claimed (which is what the City Council is claiming from Colsur) and the company is asking us for 6 million, we are awaiting the resolution, but for the moment there is a judge who says that we have to pay. From 2011 to 2019, the Popular Party was in government and did not change the policy of not paying. As for the plots, there is a substantial difference between the sectors, in that those in Maryvilla are urban and the others are not‘. Perles also accused the spokesperson for Defendamos Calpee of ’not attending meetings, not knowing anything and then insinuating things that are not true in order to make the government look bad".
The spokesperson for Somos Calpe, Juan Manuel del Pino, concluded by pointing out that "as for the interest on arrears, the ruling comes 15 years after the start of the proceedings and is the result of a court ruling, regardless of our opinion. As for the Maryvilla plots, we are talking about consolidated public land, and in the sectors we are talking about land to be developed, and the prices are obviously different and will be backed by the provincial court; the value of the land is not the same in one place as in another".
To conclude the debate, the mayoress, Ana Sala, stated that ‘justice is slow and this is a ruling that must be complied with. As for the expropriation requested in the 1998 General Urban Development Plan, it outlines things that no longer make sense today. The owner has been waiting 27 years for the City Council to take action to resolve the issue of private land designated for public use and has finally grown tired and requested expropriation’.
In addition, a credit recognition of 4,565.76 euros from last year's budget was approved. The municipal ordinance regulating direct financial aid to individuals or families in situations of social emergency and for the improvement of the autonomy of the elderly was also unanimously approved. The aim is to establish municipal guidelines in line with the criteria of the Valencian Regional Government that will allow for more agile management of emergency social aid.
